Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC), a key partner of M42, is a world-class outpatient facility dedicated to the treatment of diabetes, as well as research, education, and public health awareness. Established in collaboration with Imperial College London to meet the rising demand for diabetes care in the UAE, the Centre now operates four branches across Abu Dhabi, Al Dhafra, and Al Ain, positively impacting the lives of over one million people through its clinical services and health-focused initiatives.

 

Role overview:

 

This role is responsible for overseeing daily pharmaceutical operations, including the preparation, verification, labelling, dispensing, and delivery of medications to patients. The incumbent ensures the highest quality of pharmaceutical care and safety in accordance with M42 and DOH/DHA policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards. Additionally, the role involves providing pharmacy education to staff, interns, and students. The incumbent is also tasked with reviewing, redesigning, and implementing medication management guidelines and processes, as well as maintaining the control, security, and proper storage conditions of all medications in preparation for reaccreditation by DOH/DHA or JCI.

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensures smooth running of daily pharmaceutical operations, including preparation, verification, PBM approval or charging, compounding, packaging, labelling, dispensing, and delivering medications in compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physicians’ orders and prescriptions, identifying any therapeutic incompatibilities.
  • Initiates and maintains monitoring of patient waiting times.
  • Assists in maintaining records for controlled substances and manages the removal of outdated or damaged drugs.
  • Provides supervision, training, and development for pharmacy technicians and team members.
  • Organizes and directs technicians' workflow, verifying preparation, labelling, and order entries.
  • Works closely with pharmacy staff to ensure optimal workflow and patient care.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience

  • Strong Cerner system expertise

  • Fluent Arabic speaker (high-level proficiency)

  • Outpatient (OP) experience

  • In-depth PBM knowledge specific to Abu Dhabi emirate

  • Excellent clinical knowledge in diabetes and endocrinology
