The Senior Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the strategy and operations of the Pan-human component of the Abu Dhabi Biobank, driving its economic and scientific growth, sustainability, and innovation. As the primary repository for biospecimens and associated data from volunteer participants, the Biobank is essential in advancing translational research, precision medicine, scientific discovery and commercialization. The Senior Manager will help define operational strategies, maximize asset utilization, and establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure long-term success.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives for biobank commercialization, translational research, educational programs, and revenue generation, setting measurable KPIs for financial sustainability.
  • Oversee operational excellence, managing governance frameworks, laboratory processes, compliance, accreditation (ISO 20387, CAP), LIMS, and QA protocols to ensure efficiency and regulatory adherence.
  • Lead innovation in Biobank services, introducing capabilities such as digital pathology, tumor multiomics, organoid research, and advanced biobanking techniques.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team, supporting Emirati interns, postgraduate education, MSc/PhD scholarships, and industry training initiatives.
  • Forge strategic collaborations, developing partnerships with hospitals, biotech firms, government entities, and international research institutions for biosample collection and commercialization.
  • Oversee vendor and technology management, negotiating solutions for automation, robotics, and AI-powered digital pathology for biobank advancement.
  • Drive global clinical research engagement, working with the G42 Healthcare CRO to establish international clinical trial pipelines and commercial research initiatives.
  • Manage client relationships and reporting, ensuring transparent communication on biobank operations, financial metrics, and stakeholder engagement.

 

Qualifications

  • A PhD in Health, Biomedical Sciences, Health Technology, or Life Sciences is required. An MBA is considered an asset.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in globally renowned biobanking organizations.
  • Proven expertise in translational research, clinical trial applications, and commercial asset development.
  • Successful track record in securing international research grants and navigating the scientific landscapes.
  • Deep understanding of ethical, IRB, and regulatory frameworks governing biobank operations.
  • Ability to establish high-impact partnerships across biopharma, academia, government, and commercial enterprises.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a history of driving innovation and commercial success in biobanking.
