This role is responsible to demonstrate clinical knowledge and understanding that is relevant to their area of practice and underpins their individual scope of practice. The role must be able to recognise their role and responsibilities within the patients plan of care and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology, evidence-based practice, and Occupational Therapy practice of service users through the life span.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Evaluation & Diagnosis: Conducts initial assessments to identify physiological, psychological, and cognitive needs.
  • Treatment Planning & Delivery: Develops and adjusts individualized, evidence-based therapy plans to meet patient goals.
  • Patient Education & Consent: Communicates treatment plans clearly, ensuring patient understanding and cooperation.
  • Progress Monitoring: Uses standardized tools to track patient outcomes and modifies interventions as needed.
  • Safety & Risk Management: Performs ongoing risk assessments and adheres to safety protocols during therapy.
  • Health Promotion: Encourages self-management and educates patients on wellness strategies.
  • Documentation & Administration: Maintains accurate records and completes related administrative tasks (e.g., billing, insurance).
  • Team Collaboration: Works closely with interdisciplinary teams and refers patients appropriately.
  • Clinical Excellence: Applies advanced analytical skills to deliver high-quality care and escalate concerns when necessary.
  • Advocacy & Ethics: Upholds patient rights, dignity, and service excellence.
  • Operational Support: Participates in meetings, inventory management, and marketing or patient access initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy OR Direct entry of a recognized program with attainment of a MSc degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as Occupational TherapistCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Must have a valid UAE medical license (Department of Health, Dubai Health Authority or Ministry of Health)
  • Strong knowledge of upper extremity anatomy, biomechanics, and surgical protocols.
  • Competency in orthotic fabrication and evidence-based rehabilitation techniques.
