Overview

M42’s Integrated Health Solutions (IHS) platform drives transformative national programs and population health initiatives, addressing global health challenges through precision, prevention, and predictive care. Flagship initiatives include the Emirati Genome Program (EGP), which maps Emirati genetics to enable personalized and preventive healthcare; the Abu Dhabi BioBank, a regional center accelerating drug discovery and biobanking excellence; and Biogenix Labs, which advances precision medicine through Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies. Environmental Sciences complements these efforts by analyzing non-human factors affecting public health. IROS (Integrated Research Organization Solutions) supports innovation through high-quality clinical research, reinforcing M42’s commitment to a healthier, more sustainable future.

The Organic Chemistry Scientist assists the Senior Scientist in solving complex problems in a scientific, technology or engineering domain and is primarily responsible for supporting the analytical testing requirements of the wastewater monitoring laboratory and interpreting scientific data of moderate to difficult complexity. The Organic Chemistry Scientist supervises work and performance of laboratory technicians and with their assistance checks and pre-approves the test results obtained from sample analysis in order to satisfy the needs of the project’s Stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting advanced organic chemistry analyses using LCMSMS, GCMSMS, HRMS, and related systems.
  • Supervising laboratory technicians and approving analytical results.
  • Developing, optimizing, and validating test methods for wastewater monitoring.
  • Supporting regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and QA/QC standards.
  • Applying statistical tools to analyze data, identify root causes, and resolve issues.
  • Maintaining calibration, troubleshooting, and operation of chromatography and mass spectrometry systems.
  • Providing technical training and mentorship to laboratory personnel.

Qualifications

  • MSc in Analytical Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry (or related discipline).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a chemistry lab environment, ideally wastewater or water testing.
  • Proven expertise in advanced organic analyses (OCPs, PCBs, VOCs, SVOCs, PAHs, hormones, PPCPs, drugs).
  • Proficiency with sample preparation techniques (SPE, LLE, SPME, Headspace-trap, Thermal desorption).
  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC, ISO standards (17025, 9001, 14001), and LIMS systems (Labware).
  • Ability to supervise projects, mentor staff, and communicate technical data effectively.
